Detailed itinerary

  • Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Welcome to Day 1!  Our dedicated driver/guide will be waiting for you at the Kigali International Airport to pick you up once you arrive.

Also, based on the time you arrive, there will be an opportunity for you to visit other locations in Kigali to check out the beautiful craft, fabrics and poetry items being sold. Don’t forget to bargain as much as you can, and remember that every item purchased will be paid by you.

Afterwards you will set out for one of the largest forests in East and Central Africa, which is the Nyungwe Forest National Park.

  • Day 2: Enjoy a Tour to Butare Cultural Museum

After breakfast in the morning, the tour guide/driver will be available to embark on the journey to Butare Cultural Museum. You will have access to the rich cultural history of Rwanda and get a full view of the fascinating decoration and traditional artefacts and pictures.

  • Day 3: Enjoy Primate Tracking & Lake Kivu Visit

After the early morning breakfast, the driver will be available to take you on the primate tracking tour.This will take place in the famous Nyungwe Forest National Park and you will get to see some animals like chimpanzees, colobus monkeys and silver monkeys This will extend till lunch time and shortly after, you will go on a ride to Lake Kivu and have a great time to relax at the beach. Dinner and overnight has been planned for Lake Kivu Serena Hotel

  • Day 4: Explore Tour Ross Carr’s Orphanage

Have breakfast in the morning at your lodge, after proceed to the Ross Carr’s Orphanage which protects a good number of orphans. You will as well get time to interact with the founders as well as the Orphans, get a chance to offer them some gifts. Have lunch at any local restaurant nearby and after you start your transfer back to Kigali City for an overnight.

  • Day 5: Transfer to Ruhengeri

After breakfast in the morning, you will embark on a journey to the most famous national park in Rwanda, which is located at Ruhengeri. There, you will get to see so many gorillas and several plant species. You will have an opportunity to visit surrounding communities after lunch.

  • Day 6: Have a community walk and a visit to the batwa (Pygmies)

The tour guide will be available after breakfast to lead you in interacting with the residents of the community and get familiar with their way of life. Afterwards, you will have lunch at the lodge later in the day and subsequently get to be entertained by some local dancers in the community.

  • Day 7: Explore Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre

The Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre was started by Dian Fossey. You will get an opportunity to visit the location after breakfast. Afterwards proceed to have lunch at the lodge. Based on the time available, you might have opportunity to visit other locations such as the market and Genocide Memorial Centre.

  • Day 8: Departure

Welcome to the last day. How time flies. After your breakfast, the driver will be available to take you to the Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
